Professional career and Publications

A few words about my career

My professional career began as a statutory auditor in audit companies, and I haven’t regretted it, because auditing assignments across France have enabled me to discover the genius of human beings in the creation and implementation of industrial and logistical processes, from car engines to valves in the nuclear industry, via the steel industry, furniture manufacture and even ice cream!

This desire to reach out to others led me to join the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), a change of air and of area with the so-called developing countries at the time. A 1st period focused on risks and project financing gave me the opportunity to learn about project management in complex environments in some thirty countries in Africa, Asia and North Africa. All that was missing was the day-to-day human dimension. So in 2008 I decided to embark on a new professional life, still working for AFD, focusing on crises.

What a wonderful experience to have been one of the three pioneers of the Crises and Conflicts Unit when it was set up, and to have been able, thanks to open-minded colleagues and quality partners, to introduce and develop the theme of mental health and psychosocial support in our post-crisis projects, while at the same time taking my degree in clinical psychology, which I obtained in 2012.

Then came the years of expatriation from 2013 to 2021, in Burkina Faso and Lebanon, with their bracing moments of friendship and stimulating projects, particularly in community mental health in Lebanon with the National Mental Health Programme and Médecins du Monde France, and the more painful ones, between terrorist attack, national rebellion, explosion and social crisis.

These experiences convinced me to embark on a third phase of my career  by becoming an independant clinical psychologist and mental health consultant, to be closer to people and organisations.
